About
Mercer Botanic Gardens is the Houston area's largest display of native and cultivated plants. This public garden rests on 180 acres with 2 miles of trails where the East Texas Pineywoods meet the Gulf Prairies and Marshes ecoregions. The Garden boasts many different plant collections, including gingers, perennials, ferns, tropicals, bamboo, Louisiana iris, daylilies, endangered species, and native plants. The Garden maintains a seed bank for the National Collection of Endangered Plants, a herbarium, botanical library, and illustration collections. Mercer Botanic Gardens and neighboring Mercer Arboretum are Harris County facilities and connect to the Cypress Creek Greenway Hike and Bike Trails.
