Jim Locklear of Lauritzen Gardens collected Canadian River spiny aster (Eurybia horrida var. horrida syn. Herrickia horrida) (G3) in the Mills Canyon area of the Kiowa National Grassland on October 5 and 6, 2018. On his collecting day, a few were still in flower but most were in fruit. He collected seed from 40 different individual plants. Per the contract between the Center for Plant Conservation and the USFS Region 3, he tried to collect a sample of about 60 seeds per plant and recorded GPS location data for the collections.
