Description:

Allium howellii var. clokeyi, also known as Mt. Pinos Onion, is a perennial herb which emerges from a reddish-brown 2 cm bulb into a single stem plant which may exceed half a meter in height. The inflorescence can hold up to 100 dark-veined  whitish-purple flowers (1 cm long) which bloom from April to June.

Habitat:

Allium howellii var. clokeyi tends to grow in silty, granitic soils, at elevations from 700-6100 feet.

Distribution:

Allium howellii var. clokeyi is native to the Transverse Region of Southern and Central California.
