Eriogonum giganteum var. compactum is a small shrub, less than 100 cm tall, with leathery, white-woolly, ovate leaves and generally dense clusters of white to rose flowers with a 2-2.5 mm perianth. [NatureServe]

    Based on an September 2020 extract of the California Plant Rescue Database, California Botanic Garden holds 13 accessions of Eriogonum giganteum var. compactum in orthodox seed collection. There are as many as 11474 seeds of this species in their collection - although some may have been used for curation testing or sent to back up.
