Description:

This tree has a slender trunk and grows near the summits of limestone hills on the northern coast of Puerto Rico. Because it is usually taller than the surrounding trees, the species is readily identified at a distance. (University of Puerto Rico 2002)

Where is Llume (Gaussia attenuata) located in the wild?

Habitat:

This species is found in the Cambalache Forest on the north coast of Puerto Rico. It is found on top of limestone formations in the Forest, which appear as clusters of haystack hills separated from one another by rounded depressions. Elevations here range from 5 to 50 meters above sea level. (University of Puerto Rico 2002)

Endemic to Puerto Rico. Common on the rocky summits and cliffs of the moist limestone region and in the hills between San Germ?n and Lajas. Found in the Cambalache public forest.
