In March 2023, Atlanta Botanical Garden (ABG) staff visited Lake Talquin State Forest on three occasions, in search of Florida Milkvetch (Astragalus obcordatus). These trips were led by Florida-based team members: Ashlynn Smith, Gulf Coast Coordinator and Cami Adams, Field Technician. During these trips we found healthy populations, recorded locations, plant reproductive status, and bagged fruit for future seed collection. Collected seeds will be added to our conservation seed bank at ABG and the National Laboratory for Genetic Resource Preservation. We were able to bag 24 fruits across 2 subpopulations and they are being revisited for collection at the beginning of June.
