Description:

A member of the coffee family, this tree or shrub has white flowers and clusters of male flowers separate from female flowers on the same plant. It is one of three varieties, the two others being var. hosakana and var. rockii (USFWS 2012).

Habitat:

This species is typically found in wet forest and shrubland habitat, specific to lowland wet and wet cliff ecosystems in the mountains on Oahu. They occur between 330-610 meters in elevation (USFWS 2012).

Distribution:

Only three occurrences have been observed in the gulches of its native range on the island of Oahu (USFWS 2012).
