Description:

This member of the African violet family produces white flowers among large green leaves. Its family is known to be very diverse and hard to properly identify.

Where is Red-hair Cyrtandra (Cyrtandra ferripilosa) located in the wild?

Habitat:

Preferred environments of this shrub species are characterized as woodland forests in mesic to wet montane ecosystems. 

Distribution:

This Cyrtandra species is historically known from the mountains of Kipahulu Valley in Kuiki, Maui. Currently, two occurrences have been observed: one in Kuiki and another on the Manawainui plane, closer to the coast on Maui.
