Ctenitis submarginalis is a perennial fern around 4-8 inches in length.

Habitat:

Ctenitis submarginalis can be found in terrestrial swamps, strand swamps, wet woods and in the circumneutral soil of Mesic hammocks and rockland hammocks. It is native to Cypress swamps, rockland hammocks, old forested spoil banks of Florida, Louisianna, Mexico; West Indies in Hispaniola,Central America and South America to Uruguay. (Gann 2002.)
