As of 1983, there were four reported element occurrences (three on St. Johns, Virgin Islands and one single plant at Guanica, Puerto Rico) with total abundance less than 25 plants and poor reproduction capabilities. New data is needed, as of today (1998) those populations may no longer be extant.
