Description:

Phacelia insularis var. insularisis a decumbent (reclining), branched annual of the waterleaf (Hydrophyllaceae) family. The short-hairy and glandular stems grow to 1.5 dm (6 in) high from a basal rosette of leaves. The small lavender to violet, bell-shaped flowers are borne in loose cymes. Based on an September 2020 extract of the California Plant Rescue Database, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden holds 6 accessions of Phacelia insularis var. insularis in orthodox seed collection. There are as many as 4242 seeds of this species in their collection - although some may have been used for curation testing or sent to back up.

Based on an August 2020 extract of the California Plant Rescue Database, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden has collected 6 seed accessions of Phacelia insularis var. insularis from 4 plant occurrences listed in the California Natural Diversity Database.
