Description:

This member of the African violet family has small white glands on its leaves and white flowers. The berries is produces are also white.

This endemic shrub is found in woodland forest habitats.

Distribution:

C. gracilis is found in the Ko`olau Mountains, but historically, this shrub was found throughout the Palolo Valley, Konahuinui Gulch, and Manoa Valley.

Ecological threats to this shrub include habitat degradation by feral ungulates and direct competition with introduced alien plants, especially soapbush.

Possibly extinct today, the last observation of this shrub occurred in 2008 at 6 to 8 remaining individuals. It's unknown how many exist in this shrub's native range today.
