Description:

Erigeron philadelphicus var. provancheri is a rare variety of the common Philadelphia Fleabane (Erigeron philadelphicus var philadelphicus). It looks like a typical Daisey with white to pick petals. It is distinguished as a unique variety by several characteristics, including shorter flowering stalks than the common Philadelphia Fleabane. Both varieties can be distinguished from Erigeron pulchellus because they have many more flowering heads and many more flowers per head. Erigeron philadelphicus var. provancheri is of conservation concern because it is extremely rare. It is only found in the upper Northeastern USA and Eastern Canada in a very specific habitat; high-pH scoured shore ledges.
