    Known from serpentine-rock habitats in eastern North America, occurring primarily at about 20 places in four nearby serpentine areas of western Newfoundland, and also disjunctly on one mountain in Vermont and one mountain on the Gaspe' Peninsula of Quebec. Reportedly locally abundant at the Quebec and Newfoundland sites, with at least 20,000 to 50,000 plants estimated to be present in one region in Newfoundland, but there are only about 100 plants in Vermont. Threats are currently low at the larger occurrences. Reports from New Hampshire and Labrador need substantiation.
