We are inviting you to complete our questionnaire on the use of banked seeds for plant translocation. Even if you have never carried out translocations using your collections, we are interested in hearing from you. This questionnaire is being carried out as part of a PhD project on the role of ex situ seeds in plant conservation and should take around 15-20 minutes to complete.

Please find the survey at the following link: https://forms.gle/enaLY4TUBCwGnYtn6

We would be very grateful if you could complete it within two weeks (i.e. by 22nd Feb 2022).

    Rationale

Ex situ seed storage is an area of increasing priority for plant conservation, but there is a lack of information available on the use of banked seeds in plant translocation. We want to find out how seedbanks are currently using their collections for conservation and what challenges, if any, they encounter. In addition to this questionnaire, we will be carrying out a literature review on the use of banked seeds for plant translocation, but we believe there will be a large gap in the literature. Therefore, this questionnaire will help fill this gap to better understand the skills and knowledge seedbanks have in the stages of germination, propagation and return to nature that are required for successful translocation. We are aiming to have as diverse responses as possible so we would really appreciate if you could spare your time to complete the questionnaire. We hope that this research will contribute to identify any obstacles seedbanks face, stimulate research and funding, in order to help inform future conservation projects.
