Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) Southeastern Grasslands Institute (SGI) invites applications for one part-time SOS Collection Coordinator position, funded by an assistance agreement with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The Coordinator will be part of the Native Seed Program team at SGI and will report to the Native Seed Program Director.
Specifically, the Coordinator will be responsible for managing and processing plant materials and specimens collected through the Seeds of Success (SOS) national program; for running seed germination tests; and keeping databases up to date.
The Coordinator is expected to spend most of their time in indoor facilities to perform the focal activities.
The position is expected to be filled from February 2024 to January 2025,  with possibility of renewal in 2025. This is a part-time, nontenure-track position for 29 hours/week for $30/hour for 52 weeks (12 months).
The Coordinator will be expected to interact and sometimes work closely with other members of SGI, such as the Volunteer Coordinator, the Plant Conservation Manager, and SGI volunteers.
The work will be performed in-person for four days a week at SGI indoor facilities. Working from home will be possible for few, specific desk-based tasks.
