    FEMA published a Request for Information notice in the Federal Register seeking public comment on the National Flood Insurance Program’s minimum floodplain standards. The notice also requests comments on how the program could better promote the conservation of threatened and endangered species and their habitats consistent with the Endangered Species Act.

    FEMA’s two public meetings are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 4  and Monday, Nov. 15. Capacity is limited to 1,000 registered participants. Depending on the number of speakers, the meetings may end before the time indicated after the last call for comments. The public meetings will be held via web conference.

    During registration, a participant may indicate a desire to provide verbal comment for the record during a public meeting. Verbal comments from stakeholders will be limited to 3 minutes and become part of the official record. The specific registration information for each meeting is:

    In addition to providing verbal comments at the public meetings, any interested person can submit written comments to the Federal Register notice.  Written comments can be submitted through the Federal eRulemaking Portal using Docket ID: FEMA-2021-2024. Click on the “Comment” button and complete the form. The comment period is open from Oct.  12 – Dec. 13, 2021.
