Growing a Plant Conservation Alliance: Early successes of the Pennsylvania PCA

Since our start in 2022, the Pennsylvania Plant Conservation Alliance has been building partnerships. One such partnership with Longwood Gardens led to our first successful outplanting in 2023, creating a model for success that we hope to replicate in the future. Our work with globally rare bog Jacob’s ladder (Polemonium vanbruntiae) is setting the stage for many more projects to come. We’ll discuss how partnering with state agencies, Longwood, research universities, and Natural Heritage Programs has helped in the recovery of this species, and what our next steps are.
