Pineland leather-root, Orbexilum virgatum, is known only from southeast coastal Georgia and north Florida.  Most of the historically known locations have been lost due to habitat destruction. A member of the pea (Fabaceae) family, it is a perennial herb found in dry to moist pine savannas. In May 2022, Bok Tower Gardens surveyed Jennings State Park for flowering plants.  Seed collection bags were secured onto stalks with spent flowers on 12 plants.  In July, the seed bags were retrieved, and the seeds were cleaned and counted. A total of 173 seeds were collected across the maternal parents.  Although the number of maternal parents represented and the number of seeds collected were not enough to allow for duplication to store at two separate facilities, the seeds were dried down to 25% Rh, stored at -20°C in the National Collection at Bok Tower Gardens, fulfilling the goal of ex situ preservation for this species.
