San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance made a seed collection from Bromus carinatus to support the IMLS seed longevity study. Though this is a common species, it was important to add members of Poaceae to this study. SDZWA collected seed from a population on the Cleveland National Forest and provided samples to the NLGRP to study RNA degradation. A seed accession from this population was collected in 2005, dried and frozen, and another collection from the same population was made in 2024. Samples from both collections will be used to study how the RNA integrity number (RIN) in the Poaceae changes over time in conserved seed accessions.
