Porter's Goldenrod (Solidago porteri)

Porter's Goldenrod (Solidago porteri). A population was discovered in Georgia about a decade ago when a native plant enthusiast moved in to a recently developed residential neighborhood and did not know what kind of goldenrod was occuring in a thin strip of woods between her and her neighbor's house. The population was most likely decimated by the development, and what remained slowly dwindled. The last remaining individual from that population now resides at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, where horticulturists keep a watchful eye over it.
