Description:

Corispermum navicula Mosyakin, the boat-shaped or crescent bugseed, is a recently described (1995) species from Colorado with few localities and individuals. It is a 5-15 cm tall annual with broad, narrowly lanceolate or linear-lanceolate leaves. It flowers in late summer to fall.

Habitat:

Corispermum navicula is found on sand dunes, and probably also sandy and gravelly lake shores. Elevation of 2500 m.

Distribution:

Corispermum navicula is only known from Jackson County, Colorado, but may include some Oklahoma specimens.

Recently described as a new species from Colorado, perhaps also in Oklahoma (Mosyakin 1995, 2/2001). Considered endemic by Colorado Natural Heritage Program, with few localities, no protected occurrences and an unknown number of individuals.

There is little known about this species and its populations. Surveys are needed to inform management about possible protection from ORV use. Research is needed to determine if the specimens found in Oklahoma are the same species as those in Colorado.
