Florida Yew Makes The Cut

These recently taken Florida Yew (Taxus floridana) cuttings sit under the mist in the Atlanta Botanical Garden\’s Conservation Greenhouse. ABG was fortunate to be awarded the one exceptional species project for T. floridana, under this round of funding for the Florida Plant Rescue seed banking initiative. Since this species usually yields few seeds and they are likely to be exceptional or unable to withstand desiccation and prolonged storage at -20C, these cuttings will be used to establish ex situ propagation protocols, following ABG\’s successful methods for close relative Torreya taxifolia.
