Cornell Botanic Gardens is hiring for a horticulturalist position in the Cornell Botanic Gardens’ Mundy Wildflower Garden.
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Natural Areas, assist in the oversight of all aspects of the site management, restoration, and protection of the 25-acre Mundy Wildflower Garden, Park Park prairie restoration, and gardens at Beebe Lake in support of Botanic Gardens’ mission. Assist in determining management needs, make recommendations, develop work plans and schedules, and coordinate and execute stewardship activities, habitat restorations, species and new gardens’ curation, and special projects. Coordinate programs for the control of invasive species. Monitor, evaluate, and maintain trails and report hazards. Provide technical expertise to the public through extension. Coordinate educational uses and participate in Botanic Gardens’ educational and interpretive programs, including mentoring students in the Learning by Leading Program’s Sustainable Landscapes Team. Collect and maintain natural resource information and prepare reports. Manage Botanic Gardens native plant seed collection and exchange program and native plant propagation program for Natural Areas. Provide coordination, mentorship, and oversight for student interns and student workers, as well as seasonal employees as needed. Develop and maintain a robust volunteer program.
