The Coronado National Forest is looking for a qualified candidate to fill an upcoming vacancy for a Term position as a GS-0430-9/11 Botanist stationed at the Supervisor’s Office in Tucson, AZ. Term appointments are at least 13 months in length and may be extended up to 4 years, depending on funding. This position has responsibility for providing professional, scientific assistance to the staff pertaining to a variety of botanical and sensitive plant species duties in support of Forest activities. The Coronado NF contains diverse ecosystems ranging from deserts to mixed conifer and is home to an estimated 2,100 species of plants including 5 that are listed as threatened or endangered, and numerous sensitive plant species. There are numerous invasive plant species that threaten ecosystem integrity and are being actively treated to reduce populations. The Forest Botanist would design and implement restoration activities that remove invasive species or restore native plant assemblages. The incumbent will work collaboratively with internal specialists across five Ranger Districts and multiple external partners so good communication skills are required.
