This position serves as a Biologist III, Botanist and Technology Specialist, for the Nevada Division of Natural Heritage (NDNH) within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Principal duties will include documenting, monitoring, and conserving Nevada’s rare plant diversity and managing the agency’s technology-related efforts.
Botany-related duties include statewide rare plant data collection and management, environmental review, advising the State Forester/Firewarden on rare plant-related topics, grant proposal development and grant management, communicating with and responding to inquiries from the public, working cooperatively with numerous governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and Tribes on a variety of botany-related topics, and using scientific data and technical expertise to prepare reports detailing distribution, biology, threats, and professional management recommendations for rare plants. Technology-related duties will include managing and improving the agency website, developing and maintaining GIS spatial layers and products, developing technical queries and reports, and assisting with technical updates to and management of the agency databases. The Biologist III may also be responsible for other duties as assigned. This is a full-time, in person position based out of the NDNH office in Carson City, Nevada. Flexible scheduling within the Monday-Friday work week may be considered with supervisor approval. Up to 25% travel required.
APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY – $58,025.52 to $86,150.88  PAY GRADE: 35
