Sharing on behalf of the Black Earth Restoration Collective (BERC):

We welcome you to join the Black Earth Restoration Collective (BERC), a collective of BIPOC working in ecology and restoration broadly (e.g., restoration practitioners, stewards, urban farmers, nature and wildlife, sustainability practitioners, academics and with lived experiences).

We aim to uplift Black, Indigenous, Latine, and other Members of Color; we welcome and respect knowledge in the many forms it comes in, including personal, cultural, lived, and professional experiences. This collective calls upon BIPOC, including those who have long been engaged in this work. We intend to cultivate this collective to be a way to center BIPOC perspectives and for members to engage, discuss, support, and collaborate on topics in restoration and ecology more broadly and and ways our work can support BIPOC communities and supporting nature.

We invite BIPOC and white and non-BIPOC allies to BERC to join here, and highlight code of conduct and philosophies that are our guiding principles towards just and equitable engagement.

We will build community and action through virtual and in-person events starting later this year and welcome you to share this email with interested people.

Thank you on behalf of the BERC Team: Alicia, Amelia, Becky, Evelyn, Holly, Nia, Reg, Samantha, & Sarah
