Illegal Plant Trade: BGCI survey and initiative

We invite your participation in a crucial survey conducted by Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI).

This survey is a key component of our initiative aimed at combating the illegal trade of plant species worldwide.

At BGCI, we recognize the pivotal role that botanical gardens play in conservation efforts, leveraging their international networks, partnerships, and outreach capacities to effect positive change. With unanimous endorsement from BGCI’s International Advisory Committee, we are embarking on a ground-breaking journey to address the urgent need for collaboration in tackling the illegal trade of plants.

To ensure that our efforts are informed by diverse perspectives and grounded in robust data, we are conducting this survey as part of a Technical Review and a key part of our formative research phase. Your insights will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategy moving forward. By participating in this survey, you can contribute a case study and feature in the Technical Review publication, there is also the opportunity to join us in this work and the potential to participate in funded projects as part of the campaign to combat the illegal trade of plants.
