If you use a balance to weigh seeds, do you have a brand and model that you’d recommend?
After about 15 years, our Ohaus Adventurer SL has reached the end of its useful lifespan and we’d like to replace it with something that is known to work well in other seed labs.

    Hi Kate,

We recently discussed this topic in our California Plant Rescue group and here is a recommendation from @cheryl-birker at California Botanic Garden

“We like our Sartorius Entris Analytical Balance. ENTRIS64-1SUS. We bought it for about $1200 including tax and shipping back in 2018.”

Here’s another from @heather-schneider at Santa Barbara Botanic Garden

“We purchased a new Ohaus balance a couple of years ago and it’s been a big improvement. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the brand that we had previously, but this one is very accurate and has been working smoothly for us. It’s not very finicky, as some balances can be, and the display is clear and easy to read and use. This is what we’re using now: https://us.ohaus.com/en-US/Products/Balances-Scales/Analytical-Balances/Pioneer-Analytical-(1)/Electronic-Balance-PX84-E-AM”

    Hope this helps!
