About Dr. Haskins received her B.S. and M.S. in Biology at the University of Kentucky and completed her Ph.D. in mycorrhizal ecology in pinyon-juniper woodlands at Northern Arizona University in 2003. Since 2006, Dr. Haskins has been the Director of Research at The Arboretum at Flagstaff. She has acquired 13 years of experience administering and managing federal, state, and foundation funded projects in this role. The foci of these projects range from rare plant monitoring and demography studies, to climate change public education, to invasive species management. The Research Department currently participates in three areas of work: recovery of rare plant species, restoration of disturbed habitats, and research in native plant ecology and horticultural practices. Much of the work that Dr. Haskins has conducted since joining The Arboretum culminated in the publication of a co-edited volume in 2012, entitled “Plant Reintroduction in a Changing Climate: Promises and Perils”. In addition to performing peer reviews for over a dozen professional journals, Dr. Haskins actively participates in the Scientists in the Classroom program, serving on the Southwest Weed Management Association Board, and coordinating NAU student internships.
