Establishment and survival of reintroduced plants should be viewed as short-term success in and of itself. Long-term success is typically accomplished when populations are self-sustaining (increasing in number, cross-pollination, minimal intervention requirements). Having comparative wild populations that are considered “successful” can help to shape expectations.
