    POSITION TITLE: Nursery Technician (I)

    STATUS: Hourly, full-time. Overtime may be required, Non-Exempt

    LOCATION: Smith, NV

    WAGE: $18.50 – $20.00 per hour

    Description: The Nursery Technician (I) will implement nursery operations alongside the Nursery Grower Supervisor and other Nursery Technicians. The primary focus is on producing container plants, including watering, seeding, transplanting, and performing plant care. This job advertisement is intended to describe the general nature of the work performed by employees in this job. All jobs include broad responsibilities for improving processes to deliver the best quality native plants and seed for communities and landscapes across the Great Basin and eastern Sierra.

    The ideal candidate will have

    • A passion for working with plants and people.
    • Previous experience or willingness and ability to learn data systems and handheld devices.
    • Competency in use of Microsoft programs.
    • Coursework in Agriculture, Horticulture, Botany or Plant Science is preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience.

    Requirements

    • Detailed oriented, accurate, reliable, able to multitask, and a team player.
    • Able to work outdoors in unpredictable weather conditions; AND bend and crouch for long periods of time; AND lift 50+ lbs.
    • Clean driving record and a NV State driver’s license, or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire.
    • Able to work in elevated greenhouse temperatures.
    • Able to work flexible hours including early morning start times.
    • Able to work weekends and/or holidays when needed.
    • Able to work overtime when required to finish a task or project that is time sensitive or to ensure the health of our plant materials.
