    Hello,

The California Native Plant Society is looking to hire a Conservation Intern and one or more Lead Field Botanists and/or Assistant Field Botanists.

The Natalie Hopkins Conservation Intern will assist volunteers and program staff in advocacy related to the impacts of cannabis cultivation. The intern will assist the Conservation Program Manager in planning and facilitating a multi-stakeholder forum focused on building understanding and relationships between diverse stakeholders and identifying potential solutions for cannabis-related issues that environmental advocates, growers, agencies, and local governments are facing. The intern will also assist the Conservation Program Manager with facilitating CNPS’s monthly cannabis meetings and cannabis-related projects and research.

In addition to cannabis work, the intern will assist staff on other key conservation priorities by helping to write comment letters, assisting with Important Plant Areas program projects, and engaging in other forms of advocacy. The deadline to apply is February 10, 2023.

The Lead Field Botanist and/or Assistant Field Botanist are full‐time positions that would be supervised by the Vegetation Field Data Specialist. The positions include at least six months of work, beginning in late March or early April 2023, and may be extended beyond a year depending on funding. The positions will survey and map California’s diverse flora and vegetation assemblages, implement different vegetation sampling methods to collect field data, identify plants to the species and subspecies/variety level, collect and process native plant seeds, and voucher plant specimens.

While working remotely, project work can be centrally located (out of San Luis Obispo, Monterey, San Benito, etc. counties) and/or northern California (e.g., Humboldt, Siskiyou, Trinity, etc. counties), with support from the main CNPS office in Sacramento, CA.  The deadline to apply is February 15, 2023.

You can view all our open jobs here. Thank you for spreading the word and supporting CNPS!

    -Andre
